CUC Ulster University Celebrates the Graduation Ceremony of the Class of 2022 on September 24th

The Graduation Ceremony featured Addresses from Dr. Khalid Al-Ali on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Mrs Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, CHRO at Ooredoo Group, the Vice Chancellor of Ulster University, Executive Dean of CUC and Student Representatives

CUC Ulster University’s Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremony Highlights

CUC in partnership with Ulster University celebrated the Class of 2022 during a grand graduation ceremony on Saturday, September 24th. Graduates were recognised for their excellent achievements and selected graduates were presented with Academic Excellence Awards. The ceremony had a live performance by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

The event featured addresses from: The Executive Dean of CUC, Dr. Faris Gorashi; the Vice Chancellor of Ulster University, Professor Paul Bartholomew; Dr. Khalid Al-Ali; Student Representatives from both BTEC and Ulster Qatar students.

In her Commencement Address, Mrs. Fatima, Chief Human Resources Officer at Ooredoo Group, congratulated the graduates on their success: “I’m so proud of you. You should also be proud of the hard work and dedication you have put in to achieve your qualification. Today, you have the opportunity to celebrate and to enjoy the well-deserved success and admiration of your professors, your families, and your friends.”

Speeches from CUC’s Executive Dean and Ulster University’s Vice Chancellor

City University College’s Executive Dean, Dr. Faris Gorashi expressed his pride in recognition of the graduates’ achievements: “This celebration marks the culmination of many long hours of hard work and dedicated study that our students have so reverently put in. We have seen some remarkable work and results on both the BTEC and Ulster Degree programmes: a result of your dedicated efforts and the hard work of the amazing academic team.

We are proud to partner with Ulster University, as you will know, it has a national and international reputation for excellence, innovation and ranks in the top 25% of UK universities for world-leading research. We have a joint commitment to create one of the leading higher education institutions in the region by providing relevant, demand-led undergraduate and postgraduate higher education programmes and qualifications that contribute to Qatar’s Vision 2030 initiatives. We are honoured to have a large Ulster delegation joining us as part of this momentous occasion.”

Ulster University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Paul Bartholomew highlighted the partnership between City University College and Ulster University and the celebration of the students’ achievements. He also acknowledged the contributions of staff and faculty to the academic success: “Today is significant for everyone gathered here. Not least to mark the bond between City University College and Ulster University, but also importantly to celebrate the achievements of our students. Together we are stronger and by working together in a spirit of partnership, we can develop new thinking and new opportunities to make a positive impact on the world. Forward looking institutions like ours have a vital role to play in creating these new opportunities for the societies we serve, for our staff and for our students.

The successful completion of any University course is always a momentous, personal milestone. As a University, we are proud of you. Your University staff – the lecturers, technicians and professional services teams – have also contributed to your learning experience and I extend my thanks to each of them.”

Student Representatives Shared Their Experience at CUC Ulster University

Moemin Ali, CUC’s BTEC Student Representative said: “CUC has given us a multitude of opportunities to flourish in all aspects of our lives. We have been trained and pushed to achieve goals far beyond our expectations. There have been opportunities to grow, inspire, and be inspired. It is being in the company of other passionate, ambitious, and talented students and ever-caring educators; we learned one of the most important skills you can’t be taught in a classroom.”

Hind Kamis AlKuwari, Ulster University Qatar’s Student Representative said in her Vote of Thanks: “I remember two years back when I decided to pursue my Bachelors degree in Business Studies as a part time student and full-time employee. It was quite challenging; I had my ups and downs but after all, I did it! Dear faculty, there was so much to learn from you. Thank you for your continuous support throughout our journey; you have provided us the tools that we are able to use to draw our career paths.”
